Late Sunday in Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike hit tents outside the Al‑Shifa Hospital complex. At least six journalists and media workers were killed — five from Al Jazeera — with more injured. They were there to report, not to fight.
The Al Jazeera staff killed: Anas al‑Sharif, Mohammed Qreiqeh (also spelled Qureiqa), Ibrahim Zaher (Thaher), Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal.

This isn’t random. It’s a pattern.
Israel’s military said al‑Sharif led a Hamas cell tied to rocket fire. No verifiable evidence has been released. Press‑freedom groups and a UN expert have warned about a familiar sequence: kill a reporter, label them a militant after, show no proof, move on.
Since October 2023, this has become the deadliest conflict for journalists in modern records. Tallies now run well over 180 killed. There have been no prosecutions for these deaths.

Condemnation on repeat
Qatar, the UN, and Reporters Without Borders condemned the strike. Al Jazeera called it a “targeted assassination” and “an attack on the truth.” International outrage is loud; consequences remain scarce.
